World Buddhist Sangha Council
60th Anniversary Celebration & 2nd General Executive Committee Meeting
in conjunction with the 11th General Conference
The World Buddhist Sangha Council (WBSC) was founded in May 1966 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as a global, Sangha-led and non-sectarian organization dedicated to uniting Buddhists across traditions and nations.
The founders envisioned WBSC as a supreme international forum to safeguard the Buddha Dhamma, promote harmony among Buddhist schools, and contribute to world peace. For six decades, WBSC has been the unifying force for Buddhist communities worldwide.
