NIIBS chosen to host the 60th Anniversary of World Buddhist Sangha Council; Organizing Committee meets to finalize plans.

A pivotal meeting of the Organizing Committee of the World Buddhist Sangha Council (WBSC) was successfully convened on January 23, 2026, at the Nāgānanda International Institute for Buddhist Studies (NIIBS) in Sri Lanka. The primary focus of the high-level discussion was the strategic planning and hosting of the upcoming 60th Anniversary of the World Buddhist Sangha Council, with NIIBS designated to serve as the central venue for this landmark international event.

With the unanimous consent and collective endorsement of all committee members in attendance, a presiding chair was officially appointed to oversee and lead the day's proceedings. The prestigious occasion was highly distinguished by the presence of the Secretary of the World Buddhist Sangha Council, alongside venerable members of the Most Venerable Maha Sangha, whose guidance and participation underscored the global and spiritual significance of the upcoming anniversary celebrations.
